Mountaineer Pulse is built to be simple and private. We do not collect, store, or share any personal information about you. There are no accounts, no logins, and no advertising or behavioral tracking.
None that identifies you. The app does not ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or any other personal information, and it contains no advertising or third-party ad-tracking software. To keep the app stable, we use an anonymous crash-and-error diagnostics service, described below.
Your chosen favorite sports (used to order the home screen) are saved only on your device. This preference never leaves your phone and is not sent to us or anyone else. Deleting the app removes it.
Mountaineer Pulse shows publicly available West Virginia University sports information — scores, schedules, rosters, roster movement, and news headlines — aggregated from public sources. News items link out to the original publisher’s website; we show only the headline and source and never republish full articles.
To display this information, the app fetches read-only data from our hosting provider (Supabase). As with any internet service, our hosting and content-delivery providers may automatically process basic technical connection data (such as an IP address) for security and reliability. This is standard server operation, is not used to identify or profile you, and we do not combine it with any personal data.
To find and fix bugs, the app uses Sentry, a third-party crash-reporting service. If the app crashes or hits an error, Sentry records anonymous technical details — such as the device model, operating-system version, app version, and the error’s technical stack trace — so we can diagnose and fix the problem. This diagnostic data is not used to identify you: we disable collection of personal identifiers and IP addresses, and it is never used for advertising. Sentry processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy.
To understand how the app is used — for example, how many people open it, whether the daily notification is helpful, and which sections are popular — we record anonymous usage events such as an app open, a notification tap, and which tab is viewed. These events are tagged with a random identifier created on your device that is not your name, email, phone number, advertising id, or device id, and is not linked to your identity. We do not collect your location or IP address for analytics, and this data is never sold or used for advertising. It is stored on our own database (Supabase) and used only to improve the app.
When you tap a news headline, you leave the app and open a third-party website that has its own privacy practices. We are not responsible for the content or privacy policies of those sites.
The app is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
